Some things are so new they don't feel like they belong to us.
This new apartment.
This new girlfriend.
This new passion.
This new job.
It has always taken me a while to settle in.
But that's okay.
That is the way I work.
From my history.
Other people are naturals.
They jump right in and wear a new skin.
My old skin takes a few months to peel off.
I can appreciate the way my body waits to settle in.
I can appreciate how it tests the waters.
I do my best to let go of new things.
But I also let go of my reaction to it.
I allow myself to be new.
